Obituary for Bernadine B. Mohrhauser
Bernadine B. Mohrhauser, 89, of Danbury, Iowa passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Willow Dale Wellness Village in Battle Creek, Iowa. She had designed the plan to donate her body to Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. There will be no services for Bernadine at this time but in lieu of funeral services, Bernadine requested that memorials from family and friends be directed to the charity of their choice in her name. Bernadine Beatrice (Newman) Mohrhauser was born January 31, 1927, at Smithland, Iowa, the daughter of James Harrison “Harry” and Hattie Jane (Ward) Newman. She graduated from high school and furthered her education by becoming a Registered Nurse, having worked in several locations throughout the area.
On June 14, 1945, Bernadine was united in marriage to Charles Francis Joseph Mohrhauser at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mapleton, Iowa. The couple lived in various locations including Danbury, Tucson, Arizona for five years, Pisgah, Iowa for 32 years, Omaha, Nebraska, and finally upon their retirement, moving back to Danbury in 1996. Charles died July 14, 2001. Bernadine has been able to live at home until December of 2015, when she became a resident at the nursing home.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Danbury. Bernadine enjoyed reaching out to family members any time the need existed.
Survivors include her son, Charles Mohrhauser, Jr. and his wife, Lisa of Herman, Nebraska; a special nephew, Shane Weifenbach of Louisiana; along with other extended family members, good friends; and neighbors.
Along with her husband, Charles, Bernadine was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; and one grandson, Jason Mohrhauser.
