Obituary for Willard "Red" Bridgeman
Willard Red Bridgeman was born on September 20, 1935, the son of Charles and Elsie (Hayes) Bridgeman near Onawa. He attended country school, graduating from Ute High School in 1954. Red joined the Air Force and served in California. He returned to Mapleton after his honorable discharge. He and Helen Ruth Pauley were united in marriage. To this union 4 children were born.
Red was a drag line operator for Godberson-Smith Construction. He and Peggy Sammons were united in marriage on May 7, 1977, at Onawa.
Red loved to spend his time driving around and checking out his town. He enjoyed drinking a little beer and being with family and friends. He loved to share his cooking with others. He truly loved life.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Peggy of Ute, IA; daughters, Bernita Langwell of Remsen, IA, and Becky Schofield of Mapleton, IA; his son, Richard and Rhonda Bridgeman of Statesville, NC; two brothers, Don Bridgeman of Ute, IA, and Verlin Butch and Jolene Bridgeman of Denison, IA; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Hopkins of Albia, IA, and Claretta Bridgeman of Tyndall, SD; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
Red was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elsie Bridgeman; a son, Ronnie Bridgeman; and two brothers, Bernard Whitey and Robert Bob Bridgeman.
