Obituary for Jessie (Worrell) Loring
Jessica "Jessie" L. Loring, 63, of Sloan, Iowa and formerly of Webster City, Iowa passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 4, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa with Rev. Patrick O'Kane officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Salix. Visitation will be Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the church after 5:00 p.m. with a vigil wake service at 7:00 p.m. Armstrong Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. The family is receiving condolences on line at www.armstrongfuneral.com. ξJessica Lynn (Worrell) Loring was born August 13, 1952, the daughter of Archie and Dolores (LaCroix) Worrell. She was the first of the Worrell children brought home to the family farm near Smithland. She grew up in the Smithland area and graduated with the Westwood High School class of 1970. She then attended Iowa Central Community School College in Fort Dodge, Iowa and graduated with a degree in nursing, passed her Iowa boards, and became a registered nurse. She soon began her career at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa working in the neonatal department for over 30 years. Along with that responsibility, came deep and lasting friendships with the families and the infants as they grew up. One of those infants being Elizabeth Hepple which grew into a lasting adult friendship with Jessie. She was excited and proud to be assigned as one of the primary care nurses of one of the McCaughey septuplets in 1996. ξWhile in her college days at Webster City, Jessie met the love of her life while working at Maid-Rite. This man was Jack Loring whom she married June 9, 1989, at Webster City They moved to Smithland, Iowa in 2009 and to Sloan, Iowa just prior to his death July 20, 2009. She continued her nursing career in other aspects in the area during this time. ξJessie loved being with her family and was the one that especially appreciated family picnics. Fowler's Park at Smithland was a favorite outdoor site for Jessie to share time with her family and line up everyone for the family pictures. "She was all about a picnic." In later years, she developed a love for dogs and time at home. She was an active member of St, Joseph Catholic Church at Salix. She also volunteered at Trinity Heights in Sioux City. ξThose family members left to survive Jessie and embrace her love and legacy include her three sisters, and their husbands, Suzanne and Wesley Shattuck of Mapleton, Iowa, Jean and Skip Shattuck of Smithland, Iowa and Janie and Cliff Steinhoff of Hornick, Iowa; three brothers and their wives, Gary and Karen Worrell of Smithland, Iowa, Tim and Renae Worrell of Kingsley, Iowa and Russ and Judy Worrell of Smithland, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Pam Worrell of Denver, Colorado and Linda Worrell of Sioux City, Iowa; her beloved nieces and nephews; three step daughters, Judy, Janet, and Jacqueline and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; as well as so many good friends. ξAlong with her beloved husband, Jack, Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Dolores "Dee" Worrell; three brothers, James Frances Worrell, as an infant, Archie Worrell, Jr. and Richard Worrell; and one nephew, Ted Shattuck.
