Christopher Ronald Maynard was born in Onawa, Iowa on July 9, 1985, the second of five children born to Mark and Joanne (Langenfeld) Maynard. He grew up on the family farm and was active in 4-H. Chris attended Maple Valley Anthon-Oto School where he developed deep and lasting friendships. Along with his classes, he excelled as an athlete, lettering in football, basketball and baseball. Chris graduated with the class of 2004. He attended Iowa State University and later graduated from WIT with an associate degree in agribusiness. Chris worked for Tyson at Madison, Nebraska for a time but his career was in farming, first with his dad and later on his own. He also had a cow-calf operation. Chris was married and became the proud father of a son, Caden Christopher Maynard. He remained a fan of the Iowa State Cyclones and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys since childhood. Chris was a very charismatic person all his life, always ready to talk to anybody young and old. He eagerly shared that infectious grin with the sparkle in his eyes. He was an easy person to be around. Those family members left to embrace their memories of Chris are his father and mother, Mark and Joanne Maynard of rural Rodney, Iowa; his little boy, Caden Maynard; his brothers and sister, Matthew Maynard and his wife, Rochelle of Danbury, Iowa, Robert Maynard and his wife, Audrey of Oto, Iowa, Laura Maynard of Iowa City, Iowa and her fiancee, Justin Hummelgard of Battle Creek, Iowa; and Rick Maynard of Cedar Falls, Iowa; his nephews and nieces, Max and Emelia Maynard and Marshall and Cora Maynard; his maternal grandmother, Anne Langenfeld of Onawa, Iowa; and his paternal great grandmother, Carrie Johnston of Mapleton, Iowa; along with many other extended family members; and a world full of good friends.
