
Obituary for Margaret E. Milligan
Margaret was born on July 26, 1921, at the Correctionville, Iowa hospital, daughter of Hans and Hattie "Zellmer" Hamann. Margaret was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Paul, Midway. She graduated from the Anthon Public School. She married Archie Milligan at St. Paul, Midway on June 29, 1941. They made their home and raised their family, Charles, Roger, Mary, and Ardis, on their farm near Midway until 1973. At this time they retired to their home in Anthon. They were married for 35 years when Archie was killed in a tractor accident, March 20, 1977. Margaret taught Sunday school for over 10 years. She held numerous offices in the Saint Paul Ladies Aid, an active member for over 70 years. She was Local and Zone Christian Growth Leader for the Women's Missionary League; served on the Woodbury County REC, Woodbury County Fair Board; a 4-H County Committee member and a 4-H County judge for 20 years. She enjoyed quilting for World Relief, reading, gardening, sewing, playing cards and especially enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory include her four children and spouses; Charles (Sharon) Milligan of Correctionville, IA, Roger (Ida) Milligan of Sioux City, IA, Mary (Keith) Wornson of Kearney, MO, and Ardis (Allan) Olson of Omaha, NE; her sister Mildred Fitchner of Lawton, IA; and sister-in-law Margaret Hamann of Battle Creek, IA; ten grandchildren, Kent (Tracy) Milligan, Amy (Mike) Jorgenson, Troy (Lisa) Milligan, Valerie (Rev. Thaine) Kister, Clint Milligan, Jim (Kris) Wornson, Matt (Angie) Wornson, Julie (Nate) Sambo, Chad (Theresa) Olson, and Ryan Olson; 19 great grandchildren, Joshua and Jenna Milligan, Kyler, Zachary and Abbigale Olson, Mariah, Mattie Sue and Makayla Milligan, Jacob, Samuel and Lilly Wornson, Kate and Camden Wornson, Addison and Ava Sambo, Brady and Kendall Olson, and Jaxson and Keltie Jorgenson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Archie; her parents, parents-in-law; one sister; three brothers; three sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and two stillborn great granddaughters.
