ξ Harold Gene Bochmann, Jr. Mapleton, IA - Harold Gene Bochmann, Jr., 52, of Mapleton, Iowa died of natural causes Friday, March 13, 2015, at his family home in Mapleton. Private family services will be held at a later date. Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton is in charge of the arrangements. Harold Gene Bochmann, Jr. was born August 11, 1962 at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Cherokee, Iowa. He is the eldest son of Harold Gene Bochmann, Sr. and Dorthea (Backer) Bochmann of Mapleton, Iowa. He was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Holstein, Iowa. He grew up in northwest Iowa and moved with his family to their current home in Mapleton in 1972. He then attended Maple Valley School. ξHarold Gene achieved his dream job when he became "cowboyed". He loved riding horses and especially loved working with the cattle. In his mind, he got to play all day and got paid for it. Due to cardiac problems, Harold Gene was forced to quit his cowboy career. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton. He married Yvon Anderson in Elk Point, South Dakota. They later divorced. He is survived by his father and mother, Harold Gene Bochmann, Sr. and Dorthea Bochmann of Mapleton; two sisters, SallyJo Ross of Sioux City, Iowa and Dallas Swalve and her husband, John of Cylinder, Iowa; one brother, Vernie Bochmann of Mapleton; one daughter, Carolyn Marie Radcliff of Sioux City; two sons, Harold Gene Bochmann, III of New Mexico and Sean Patrick Bochmann of Michigan; one grandson, Dylan Ratcliff; and "billions" of nieces and nephews; many other loved ones; and numerous extended family members. ξHe was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Walter Backer and Sarah Backer Nelson; and his paternal grandparents, Vernie and Opal Bochmann.
