Sioux City, IA - Ronald G. Houghtaling, 73, of Sioux City, Iowa died Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Countryside Nursing Home in Sioux City. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon, Iowa with Roger Hladik officiating. Burial will follow at Peiro-Bethel Cemetery in rural Anthon, Iowa. The family is receiving condolences on line at www.armstrongfuneral.com. Ronald Gene Houghtaling, 73, of Sioux City, Iowa died Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Countryside Nursing Home in Sioux City. He was born March 4, 1941, in Omaha, Nebraska to Lyle and Elsie (Conn) Houghtaling. He married Mary Ellen Sawin on March 2, 1972, in Omaha. They moved to Anthon in 1976, then to Sioux City in 2009. Ronald is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Ellen; daughters, Cheryl (Rich) Miller of Dakota Dunes, Jackie (Gale) Heyer of Moville, and Ann Marie; son, Ryan (Melissa) of Sioux City; grandchildren, Dustin Beck, Jake Warren, Jacee Warren, and Kylie, Shelby, and Josie Houghtaling; two great granddaughters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; beloved sister, Carol; parents-in-law; grandson, Branden Beck; and son-in-law, Jimmy Warren. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Jim Rusch and the staff at the Anthon Mercy Medical Clinic and Randy Boyer at Mills Pharmacy in Anthon for their dedicated service to Ron. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Anthon Rescue Squad.
