Diane Harbaugh Anthon, Iowa - Diane Harbaugh, 76, of Anthon, Iowa passed away unexpectedly Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Unity Point Health St. Luke's in Sioux City, Iowa. The funeral Service will be Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Anthon United Methodist Church in Anthon. Pastor Janet Rickhoff-Faris will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Anthon. Visitation will be Wednesday at the church from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the family present during that time and the prayer service at 7:00 p.m. followed by a service by the American Legion Auxiliary. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Diane to the McNiff American Legion Auxiliary Unit #389 of Anthon. The family is accepting condolences on line at www.armstrongfuneral.com. Frances Diane Harbaugh was born in rural Anthon to Eldon and Genevieve (Heath) Brown on August 16, 1937. She graduated in 1955 from Anthon High School. She moved to Omaha after high school to work at the Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company. She met her husband, Joe, on a blind date while he was stationed in the Navy in Hutchinson, Kansas. They were married six months later on December 7, 1956. They lived in Montana and California before settling in Anthon, Iowa in 1963, where they still reside. She worked as a bookkeeper at several businesses in the Anthon area including Jacob's Accounting, Terra, and Hamann-Sauser Implement. She was currently working at home as a bookkeeper for J.D. Wiggs Hay from Mapleton, Iowa. Diane loved spending time with her family, making quilts, traveling in their camper, country music, bowling, bingo and reading western novels. Diane enjoyed golfing and was the first person to get a hole in one on the Anthon Golf Course. Diane was a member of the United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary McNiff Unit #389 of Anthon. Left to cherish her memory are Joe, her husband of almost 57 years; two sons, Greg (Kate) Harbaugh of Dubois, Wyoming and Brad (Lisa) Harbaugh of Columbia Falls, Montana; two daughters, Michelle (Kirk) Fitch of Anthon, Iowa and Brenda (Randy) Wolfe also of Anthon; eleven grandchildren, Abby (Tim) Gibbs of Prosser, Washington, Hilary (Brandon) Thompson of Washington, Utah, Colemun Harbaugh of Sheridan, Wyoming, Kelsey (fianc��' Anthony) Clark of Denver, Colorado, Morgan Fitch of Sioux City, Iowa, Camryn Fitch of Anthon, Iowa, Beau Wolfe of Sioux City, Iowa, Alex (Kitt) Haddenham of Kelispell, Montana, Sara Harbaugh of Clinton, Maryland, Ben Harbaugh also of Clinton, Maryland, and Casey Harbaugh of Columbia Falls, Montana; five great grandchildren, Gracen and Lincoln Haddenham, and Lilly, Natalie, and Nathan Thompson; a brother, Gary (Janice) Brown of Anthon, Iowa; a sister, Lois (Wally) Duncan of Correctionville, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Marylou Paulson of Miles City, Montana, Dee Brown of Oto, Iowa, and Susan Brown of Omaha, Nebraska; and numerous nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends. Diane was preceded in death by her parents; Joe's parents; and brothers, Charlie in infancy, Joseph and Harold "Buddy" Brown.
