Obituary for Irene B. Reinbold
Irene B. Reinbold Mapleton, IA - Irene B. Reinbold, 93, of Mapleton, Iowa passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, Iowa with Rev. Scott Jensen officiating. Cremation will follow the service with burial at a later date at St. Clair Cemetery at Ute, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday November 29 at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton after 4:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. There will be no prayer service. The family is receiving on line condolences at www.armstrongfuneral.com. Irene was born October 2, 1920, the daughter of Carl J. and Elsie (Kuhlman) Bartels. She grew up in Castana and graduated from Castana High School. After graduation she worked for Bell Telephone in Mapleton and was united in marriage to Ray Reinbold. They lived in an apartment above the Coast to Coast Hardware store on main street of Mapleton. After Irene's divorce she transferred to Bell Telephone in Mason City where she worked for more than 30 years until her retirement. She had many friends in Mason City and kept in touch with a lot of them through Christmas cards and telephone calls. After Irene retired she purchased an apartment owned by the Mapleton Nursing Home and made her residence in Mapleton. Irene always had a very strong faith and worked very hard for her church both the Lutheran church in Mason City and St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton. She volunteered helping with the quilting projects and any other project that came along, cleaning the church and working at all the funeral dinners. All the church members were like family to her and a very important part of her life. She loved bible study and was always willing to open her home for the study. She was considered an "angel" to many of her friends. She visited the nursing home every day and stopped to visit with many of the residents and when anyone at the apartments was ill she would get their mail and paper and take it to them, make their meals and just made sure they were okay. She had some very special friends that spent a lot of good times together. Irene was very active and always ready when anyone asked her to do anything. She always dressed beautifully and when anyone would complement her on something she wore she would say "thank you but this is "old". She has a lot of friends and family that will rejoice and welcome her with open arms; giving comfort to those she left behind. Survivors include a niece Carla Golden-Fiscus and her husband, Jeff of Whiting, Iowa; a nephew Mark McDonald of Castana, Iowa; great nieces and nephews, Dana Coyle of Whiting, Iowa, November Eik of Sioux City, Iowa, Beau Fiscus of Whiting, Iowa, Jennifer Moore and her husband, Todd of Onawa, Iowa, and Shanon McDonald and his wife, Mary of Onawa, Iowa, Dixie McCoy and her husband, Paul of North Carolina, Sharon Erickson of Arizona, and Gloria Jochims of Washington. . Irene was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Evelyn Phipps and her husband, Jake and Marie McDonald and her husband, Laurel; and a half brother, Walter Jochims.
