Leonard E. Waugh��劗�Anthon, Iowa - Leonard E. Waugh, 88, of Anthon, Iowa passed away surrounded by his family, Saturday, February 16, 2013, at the Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center in Kingsley, Iowa. The funeral service will be Wednesday, February 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the Rock Branch United Methodist Church (Rock Branch, rural Correctionville, Iowa) with Pastor Ben Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery at Rock Branch with military graveside honors provided by the American Legion McNiff Post #389 of Anthon. Visitation will be at the church Tuesday, February 19 after 4:00 p.m. with the family present at 6:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Armstrong Funeral Home of Anthon has been entrusted with the arrangements. On line condolences can be directed to the family at www.armstrongfuneral.com.��劗�Leonard Edwin Waugh was born February 23, 1924 in rural Anthon, Iowa, the only son of B.H. and Rose (Brune) Waugh. He grew up in the area and attended Wolf Creek #5 Country School. In 1941, he graduated from Anthon High School. Leonard served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946 with the occupational forces in Japan. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home, and on November 25, 1948, was united in marriage to Doris Livermore in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple made their first home near Anthon. In 1951, they purchased a farm near Moville, Iowa, where they farmed and raised their five children. Leonard and Doris retired in 1986 and moved to Anthon in 1991, where they resided at the time of Leonard's passing. ���Leonard was a long time member of the Rock Branch United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion McNiff Post #389 of Anthon and served as a 4-H Leader. Leonard was an avid golfer, first at Correctionville. Later, he was instrumental in the development and construction of the Anthon Golf Course, where he also served on the board. Loving the music of his era, Leonard and Doris found great pleasure in the big bands and ballroom dancing. They also learned to love square dancing. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2008 by renewing their wedding vows in the presence and loving support of their family and friends. Leonard was deeply appreciated by his family for his open minded loving attitude, complimented by his quick wit and genuine sense of humor. ���Those family members left to smile as they remember Leonard are his wife of 64 years, Doris; two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Greg Baedke of Vermillion, South Dakota and Lisa and Greg Fravel of Sioux City, Iowa; three sons, Terry Waugh and his wife, Linda of Moville, Iowa, Steve Waugh and Duane Kjelden of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Kirk Waugh and his wife, Tammie of Brandon, South Dakota; eight grandchildren, Ryan Baedke and his wife Lora, Ben Waugh, Andrea Waugh, Aaron Baedke and his wife Jami, Kellen Fravel, Corey Fravel, McKenzie Waugh, and Alex Waugh; and one great granddaughter, Brynlee Baedke.���He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters and their husbands, Opal and Alvin Wieck and Luella and Ben Dicus.
