Obituary for Jeri Goodman
Battle Creek, IA - Jeri Goodman, 63, of Battle Creek, Iowa passed away Friday, March 2, 2012, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa with his family by his side. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, Iowa with Pastor Randy Cormeny officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Anthon, Iowa with military graveside honors provided by the American Legion Maple Valley Post #364 of Battle Creek. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 6 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the church with the family present from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton and Danbury, Iowa has been entrusted with the care of Jeri's funeral arrangements. Jeri Clay Goodman was born August 8, 1948, in Ida Grove, Iowa. Jeri was the son of Clay and Marjorie (Shever) Lund. At the age of 6, his father Clay passed away. Marjorie later married Robert (Bob) Goodman who adopted Jeri and his two brothers. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1966. Jeri attended Midland College before joining the United Sates Navy, where he proudly served his country for three years. On December 13, 1980, Jeri was united in marriage to Mary Ellen "Boots" Fundermann. The couple made their home in Battle Creek, Iowa. Jeri was a very proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. Jeri farmed with his dad and brother, Randy, was an independent trucker, worked for Nailor's Fertilizer, and worked in many other trades. In 1984, Jeri started working for Midwest Industries in Ida Grove where he retired after 26 years of service. Jeri was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Battle Creek as well as the American Legion Maple Valley Post #364 of Battle Creek. Jeri enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, fishing, relaxing on his pontoon, "Crazy Mary", solving crosswords and sudoku puzzles. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, "Boots"; five children, Tyann Hupke and her special friend, Lon Juelfs of Battle Creek, Sheri Schrank and her special friend, Shannon Schiernbeck of Battle Creek, Tanjie Krayenhagen and her husband, John of Battle Creek, Randi Goodman and her special friend, Vernon Grylls of Des Moines, Iowa, and Jori Goodman of Battle Creek; six grandchildren, Amber Wilcox and her husband, Tim, Dylan Hupke, Shonda Rogge and her husband, Beau, Jatessa Schrank, Jatelyn Jessen, and Jakinzi Krayenhagen; three great-grandchildren, Daylyn, Hailey, and Breanne Wilcox; two brothers, Dennis and his wife, Angie of Arthur and Randy and his wife, Sheryl of Battle Creek; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives; and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, John and Helen Fundermann; and a son-in-law, Monty Hupke.
