Bruce William Jacobson, the son of Robert “Bob” and Fern (Engelke) Jacobson, was born on February 3, 1949, along with his sisters, Pam and Pat, in Ute, Iowa.

Growing up, Bruce worked alongside his father and brother, Sheldon, at the family’s lumber yard and construction business. From a young age, Bruce was no stranger to hard and honest work. He attended Mapleton High School and graduated with the class of 1967. After graduation, Bruce was drafted into the United States Army. He served his country for two years before returning home.

On June 2, 1972, Bruce was united in marriage to Rosetta Mae “Rose” Ladwig at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove, Iowa. The couple was blessed with four sons: Thomas, Scott, Jon, and Brandon. The family first lived on a farm north of Mapleton for about ten years before moving into town.

Bruce was a talker and enjoyed visiting friends and family whenever he could. He was a master of the “no goodbyes” and would sneak out of get-togethers before anyone noticed he was gone. He enjoyed visiting his family at the campground but was never one to stay the night. When Bruce wasn’t watching the news to stay up to date on current events, he was sure to be watching a Mets’ baseball game. Above all, he was a proud dad and grandpa. Attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and other school events was a priority.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son Scott (Andrea Burgess) Jacobson of Mapleton, IA; 6 grandchildren: Avery, Jalee, Liam, Caitlyn, Natalie, and Marli; brother Sheldon (Peg) Jacobson of Mapleton, IA; sisters Pam (Bob Kaus) Clausen of Holstein, IA and Pat (Denny) Petersen of Danbury, Brothers-in-law Ronnie “Ron” (Tricia) Ladwig, Ricky “Rick” (Valerie) Ladwig both of Ida Grove, IA; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Fern Jacobson; wife Rose Jacobson; sons

Thomas, Jon and Brandon Jacobson; parents-in-laws Melvin and Helen Ladwig; and brother-in-law Dale Clausen.
