Michael John Whitney, age 53, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at his residence of Mapleton, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Armstrong-Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa.

Michael John Whitney, the son of Floyd and Violet (Davis) Whitney, was born on February 27, 1971, on the Army base his father was stationed on in Germany. Due to his father being active military the family moved frequently before settling in Dubuque, Iowa.
A jack of all trades, Michael was a talented carpenter. He worked in construction building homes and buildings proudly working his way up to foreman. Over the years Michael was also employed as a over the road hauler and worked for Tyson Foods.
Michael was straight forward and hardworking. He was a man of nature and enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting knives and polishing rocks.
Survivors include his children Jessica Whitney Davis, Shawn Whitney, John Whitney, Jesse Whitney, and Amanda Whitney; eleven grandchildren; siblings Joel Whitney, Floyd (George) Whitney, Shaun Whitney, James Whitney, Tina Reeves, and Jarrod Whitney; extended family and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Violet Whitney; grandson Jakoby Whitney; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
