James “Jim” L. Manson, the son of George Dale and Millie (Siefke) Manson, was born on May 11, 1938, in Moville, Iowa.

When Jim was very young, his family relocated to Correctionville, Iowa where he later graduated from Correctionville High School. Jim enlisted into the United States Air Force on February 14, 1961, and was honorably discharged on August 5, 1964.

After being discharged from the Air Force, Jim worked with his father Dale in the family’s construction business Manson & Son Construction. He went on to further his education in graphic design at Western Iowa Tech Community College. The family also owned and operated the local Mobile Gas Station in Correctionville known as the “Little Rock Station” where Jim worked alongside his father. The gas station is now a national landmark.

With a passion for aviation, Jim obtained his pilot’s license which he was very proud of. He enjoyed flying, camping, boating, and spending time with Lillian and his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his nieces & nephews: Jean Meyer of Sioux City, IA, Terry (Marion Hawks) Tincher of Topeka, KS, Suzy (Kevin) McCaslen of Yukon, OK, Christy (Jerry) Mahr of Sioux City, IA, and Gayle (Michael) Dillon-Hager of San Clemente, CA.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents George Dale and Millie Manson; partner Lillian Nairn; sisters Phyllis Tincher and Dorothy Dillion; brother-in-law Everett “Steb” Tincher; nieces and nephew Lyle Tincher, Barbara Tucker, and Cindy Bock.
