Brandon David Jacobson was born on March 10, 1980, in Onawa, Iowa, the youngest son of Bruce and Rosetta (Ladwig) Jacobson. He grew up in Mapleton, Iowa and was baptized and confirmed at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton.

Brandon attended Maple Valley High School graduating with the class of 1998. His brothers gifted him the nickname “Big Wax” when he was in grade school and he answered to it the rest of his days. Brandon was very competitive in sports, beginning with t-ball and continuing through college. One of his fondest memories was winning the “Best Calves” contest when he was in high school. Brandon was a member of the varsity basketball team that made it to state during his senior season and also was a part of the baseball team.

After high school Brandon received a scholarship to attend Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa and play basketball for the Red Raiders. In 2001 his team won the national NAIA championship and in 2002 they reached the final four, where they lost to the eventual champions. His college teammates bestowed the nickname “Big Daddy” on Brandon due to his tough-on-the-outside, soft-hearted manner. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern in 2002.

During college Brandon was employed by Pizza Ranch as a manager, where he proved to be a very successful employee. Later he worked as a loan officer at several banks and was most recently employed as an underwriter.

While attending college Brandon met Alie Zeman. They married after graduation and had two children together, Avery and Jalee. The couple later parted ways.

In 2019 Brandon was introduced to his future fiancée, Taylor Swedlund. They combined their families and added daughter, Marli, to complete their “Brandon Bunch”.

Collecting sports cards was one of Brandon’s favorite hobbies and he shared this passion with his son. He was a big Chiefs fan and loved to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes basketball team play. One of his favorite things to do was to attend his kids’ sporting events and just hang out with his many friends.

Left to cherish his memory include his fiancée Taylor Swedlund of Sergeant Bluff, IA; children Avery Jacobson, Jalee Jacobson and Marli Jacobson; stepchildren Savannah Angerman, Cash Meyer and Ophelia Meyer; father Bruce Jacobson of Mapleton, IA; brother Scott (Andrea) Jacobson of Mapleton, IA; grandmother Helen Ladwig of Battle Creek, IA; nieces Caitlyn and Natalie Jacobson and nephew Liam Jacobson; along with many other extended family members and countless wonderful friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Rose Jacobson; brothers Thomas Jacobson and Jon Jacobson; and grandparents Robert and Fern Jacobson and Melvin Ladwig.
