Carol Elaine (Thompson) Dose was born on January 22, 1934, on the family farm outside of Soldier, Iowa, to Nel and Violet (Kline) Thompson. Carol was baptized on June 19, 1934, in her Christian faith and confirmed on June 20, 1948, in the Soldier Lutheran Church. She attended grade school at the Jordan Township country school in rural Soldier and later graduated from Soldier High School with the class of 1952.
On September 14, 1952, Carol was united in marriage to Wilbert Dose at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Mapleton, Iowa, where Carol has been a faithful member since. The couple made their home on the Dose family farm near Danbury, Iowa and were blessed with four children: Denise, Gary, Jolene, and Lori. Together the couple farmed until Wilbert’s passing in 1992.
Carol relocated to Mapleton where she lived until she passed on August 7, 2022. A faithful member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Carol was active in L.C.W., ladies’ circle, helping with the altar guild and braille club. She also did quilting for the World Relief and the Sunshine Club.
A dedicated and devoted homemaker, mother, and wife, Carol enjoyed cooking for her family and making special meals for them. She relished her time spent tending her garden and flower beds, which brought her pure joy. Her greatest love in life was her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her children: Gary (Shirley) Dose of Danbury, IA, Jolene (Marc) Uhl of Danbury, IA and Lori (Bob) Davis of Columbus Junction, IA; son-in-law Bill (Jonya) Pry of Oklahoma City, OK; seven grandchildren: Tiffanie (Casey) Call, Corey (Emily) Pry, Jason (Rennett) Stinnett, Shawna Dose, Garrett (Cecilia) Dose, Jessica Vought, and Ashley Davis; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Helen Weber of Rapid City, SD, Viola Jessen of Steward, IA, Bernice Horst of Wall Lake, IA and Raphael Thompson of Springfield, MO; brother-in-law Lawrence Stoltz; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
