Frances M. Brodersen, age 76, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at the Burgess Health Center of Onawa, Iowa.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Mapleton, Iowa. Rev. Chris LaBoube will officiate. A Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Mapleton, Iowa.

Frances Mary Brodersen, the daughter of Oscar and Hedwig “Hadie” (Nagel) Barnes, was born on September 27, 1945, in Mapleton, Iowa. She received her education from Mapleton High School graduating with the class of 1963.
On March 12, 1964, Frances was united in marriage to James E. Brodersen in Elk Point, South Dakota. They were blessed with four sons: Michael, James, Patrick, and Nathan. The family made their home in Mapleton.
Frances worked various jobs in Mapleton. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren: Jessica (Lee) Wallace, Felicia (Jesse) Gigaroa, Rachel (Jesse) Grove, Jordan (Benjamin) Bjorholm, Patrick, Montana, Kaylee, Autumn, and Brayden Brodersen. She was blessed with 11 great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory include her husband of 57 years, James Brodersen of Mapleton, IA; her sons James (Sherrie) Brodersen of Battle Creek, IA, Patrick (Monica) Brodersen of Battle Creek, IA and Nathan (Betsy) Brodersen of Mapleton, IA; daughter-in-law Janet Brodersen of South Sioux City, NE; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister Fern Krayenhagen of Battle Creek, IA; extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Hadie Barnes; son Michael Brodersen; grandson Steven Brodersen; great-grandson Emmett Grove; and brother-in-law Earl Krayenhagen Sr.
