Obituary for Lynette M. Dobrovolny
Lynette M. Dobrovolny, age 73, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at her residence of Mapleton, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at the St. Peter’s United Church of Christ of Mapleton, Iowa. Pastor Linda Boggs will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery of Mapleton, Iowa. A Visitation with no family present will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 23, 2020, at the Armstrong-Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa (during visitation we are limited to 15 people in the funeral home at a time). Due to COVID-19 masks are mandatory and social distancing rules apply during all services. The family also requests casual attire during all services and there will be note cards available to leave special memories to share with the family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in honor of Lynette to Burgess Hospice of Onawa, Iowa.

Lynette M. Dobrovolny, the oldest of four children born to Elmer and Margaret (Means) Wacheldorf, was born on June 27, 1947, in Mapleton, Iowa. She grew up in Mapleton and graduated from Maple Valley High School with the class of 1965.
After graduation, Lynette spread her wings and moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she was employed with Mutual of Omaha. In 1972 she relocated back to Mapleton and on January 3, 1974, she was united in marriage to Thomas “Tom” Dobrovolny.
Lynette worked for Pine Insurance of Danbury, Iowa and moonlighted as a bartender at multiple establishments. She enjoyed bartending over the years with some of her favorites being Sparetime and Sally’s. After Pine Insurance she went to work for Siouxland Residential Services and retired in 2013. She loved spoiling her grandchildren, spending time with family, belting a tune into a salt shaker, sitting in her she shed, and when she was younger bowling on Monday night league. This devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend will be truly missed by all who loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Troy (Nicole) Dobrovolny of Crown Point, IN and Jenny (Kyle) Lechler of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Payton, Trey, Matthew, Jacob and Nathan; sisters Bonnie Wacheldorf of Mapleton, IA and Marlene (Keith) Parr of Castana, IA; brother Rick Wacheldorf of Sergeant Bluff, IA; brother-in-law Bruce (Kari) Dobrovolny; sister-in-law Kate Wacheldorf; niece Jodi (Brett) Kafton of Mapleton, IA; nephews: Daniel (Stephanie) Parr of Hornick, IA, Brian Wacheldorf of Sergeant Bluff, IA, and Ryan (Chrissy) Wacheldorf of Omaha, NE; great nephews Brody, Bryce, Braden, and David; great niece Dakota; grand puppies: Daisy, Brinley, Wrigley, and Cooper; extended family and friends.
Lynette is preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Margaret Wacheldorf; husband Tom Dobrovolny; niece Stephanie Parr; and great nephew Stephen Kafton.
