Obituary for Peggy Jean Bridgeman
Peggy Jean Bridgeman, age 62, of Ute, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital of Denison, Iowa.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. Clair Township Cemetery of Ute, Iowa. Rev. Nathan A. Peitsch will officiate. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic masks are encouraged and social distancing rules apply. The Armstrong - Van Houten Funeral Home of Ute, Iowa, is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Peggy Jean Bridgeman, the daughter of Rolland and Eva “Pauline” (Randall) Sammons, was born on March 2, 1958, in Denison, Iowa. She grew up and received her education in Mapleton, Iowa, where she graduated with the class of 1976 from Maple Valley High School.
On May 7, 1977, Peggy married Willard “Red” Bridgeman in Onawa, Iowa. The couple settled down in Ute, Iowa, where Peggy and Red bought the local Ute Hotel & Lounge, which they owned and operated for several years. The couple also purchased the old local gun shop which they enjoyed remodeling into their home. For many years Peggy was employed as a clerk at Ute City Hall until her health prevented her from working.
Peggy was an accomplished seamstress and loved to craft. She also liked keeping up with current events on her computer as well as playing computer games. Peggy passed away suddenly due to complications from COVID-19.
Survivors include sisters Nancy (Garry) Hottendorf of Arion, IA and Lois Crum of Schaller, IA; nieces, nephews, extended family and step family.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Rolland and Eva “Pauline” Sammons; husband Willard “Red” Bridgeman; sisters Rhonda Friedrichsen, Linda Wendt and Elaine Baum; nieces Jean Crum and Nicole Feller and nephews Troy Crum and Mark Feller.
