Carol Marlene Bolles, the daughter of William and Hazel (Rader) Larson, was born on September 27, 1935, in Smithland, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm outside of Smithland and received her education in the Smithland School District where she enjoyed playing basketball. Carol graduated from Smithland High School with the class of 1953.

On February 20, 1954, Carol was united in marriage to Dale “Tony” Bolles and the couple made their home on a farm near Anthon, Iowa, where they raised their children. Carol worked outside the home cleaning houses and throughout the years, she enjoyed bowling, helping with the legion, reading and watching her favorite T. V. shows and movies.

Carol was an accomplished seamstress. She made all of her children’s clothes and also made Raggedy Ann clothes & dolls, Barbie clothes and rugs. Carol proudly made quilts for her entire family and completed her last one in December of 2019. Carol gave her leftover quilting fabric to her son Craig who lovingly made two quilts for his mother as she had never made one for herself.

The smell of warm monster cookies and her cornflake cookies would fill her home. She loved sharing these delicious cookies with everyone. Carol adored her family and treasured every photo, letter, moment and meal spent together. This loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend will be missed by all those who have loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Craig (Lesly) Bolles, Carmel Harrell, and Paul (Pam) Bolles; grandchildren: Keri Bolles (Jimmy Keenan), Jenni (Ben) Ogbulu, Patti (Josh) Dayberry, Candi (Ryan) Ladwig, Tony (Alissa) Bolles, Jason (Kim) Smith, Jessica Smith, Jared (Shelby) Smith; granddaughter-in-law Suzanne Bolles; Greats: Alex, Allivia, Hallie, Levi, Reese, Riley, Treyton, Piper, Makynli, Cruz, Logan, Adam, Ryker, Harper, Hayden, Sloane, Axyl, Layne and Cora; extended family and friends.
