Henry A. Kollbaum, age 73, of Anthon, Iowa, passed away, August 06, 2016, at the Mercy Medical Center of Sioux City, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Armstrong – Van Houten Funeral Home of Anthon, Iowa. Rev. Jena Manchaster will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery of Anthon, Iowa. A Visitation will be held at the Armstrong – Van Houten Funeral Home of Anthon, Iowa, on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Armstrong - Van Houten Funeral Home of Anthon, Iowa is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Henry A. Kollbaum was born on November 7, 1942, In Ida Grove, Iowa, to Henry M. and Ida (Hesse) Kollbaum. He grew up around the Anthon and Bronson, Iowa area. In his younger years he attended country school and later public school. While he went to school in Bronson he worked as a hired hand for Mrs. Hafke of Bronson, Iowa.
In March of 1961, Henry was united into marriage to Lyla Kay Card in Moville, Iowa. The couple lived in Sioux City, Iowa, Dell Rapids, South Dakota, Moville, Iowa and then settled in Anthon, Iowa. They were blessed with three children: Dwight, Tammy, and Jason.
Henry’s true love was farming and raising his hogs. He did work off the farm for a while at Sara Lee in the head of maintenance position, but the farm was calling his name.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, family gatherings, going to coffee at the four way in Moville with the guys, target shooting, driving his ATV around town, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years Lyla Kollbaum of Anthon, Iowa; children, Dwight Kollbaum of Hinton, Iowa, Tammy Frimml Fennimore of Wisconsin, and Jason (Brenda) Kollbaum of Moville, Iowa; six grandchildren,, fourteen great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene (Linda) Kollbaum; sisters, Roberta Houlsworth of Anthon, Iowa, LaJune (Tom) Grey of Sioux City, Iowa, Leona (Norman) Schmidt of Danbury, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ida Kollbaum; sisters, Ruth Malone, Delores Diamond, and Darlene Zimmerman.
