Veronica A. Cunningham, age 92, of Anthon, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at the Correctionville Specialty Care of Correctionville, Iowa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 08, 2016, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Anthon, Iowa. Father Dan Greving will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery of Anthon, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary held at 5:00 p.m. and a Vigil Service held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 07, 2016 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, of Anthon, Iowa. Veronica Ann Cunningham was born on March 2, 1924 in Hartford, South Dakota, to Frank and Nellie (Obrecht) Schiernbeck.
Veronica grew up in the Battle Creek and Correctionville, Iowa area on a farm.
On June 10, 1953, Veronica was united into marriage to Tom Cunningham in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Anthon, Iowa. The couple made their home in the town of Anthon, Iowa and were blessed with four children: Virginia, Tim, Donna, and Patrick.
She enjoyed being a wife, mother, and homemaker, taking pride in her crocheting and home cooked meals. Veronica treasured spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Virginia Cunningham of Cherokee, Iowa, Tim (Kate) Cunningham of Smithfield, Virginia, Donna Cunningham of Omaha, Nebraska, and Patrick (Julie) Cunningham of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren, Tawnia (Bob) Cummings, Matt (Meagan) Cunningham, Brad (Jessica) Cunningham, and Brian (Danielle) Cunningham; great-grandchildren, Parker and Maxell, Colten, Alice, Thomas and Madeline; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Veronica was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tom Cunningham; sisters, Elaine Williamson, Lorraine Hayward, Frances Schiernbeck, Mae O’Connell; and brother, Bernie Schiernbeck; and great grandson, Teddy Cummings.
