Troy R. Bumann, age 60, of Castana, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
A Private Family Service will be held.
A Come & Go Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Divide Hill Roadhouse in rural Castana, Iowa.

Troy Robert Bumann, the son of Richard and LaDonna (Bahnsen) Bumann, was born on September 29, 1965, in Ida Grove, Iowa. He grew up in rural Castana, Iowa, in the beauty of the Loess Hill at Timber Ridge and received his education from Maple Valley High School graduating with the class of 1984. Troy then attended Western Iowa Tech Community College.
Troy relocated to Kansas, where he began his career while also furthering his education at the University of Kansas. In 1993 he earned a Bachelor of General Studies in Human Development. In the late 1990s, he moved to Norfolk, Nebraska and spent more than a decade working as a telecommunications technician for Nebraska Power. In 2001, he met his future wife through an online dating site. What began as a friendship grew into a lasting relationship, and on June 25, 2004, Troy married Rhonda Marie Kallhoff in Norfolk.
Having visited Arizona previously, Troy knew it was a place he always wanted to live. In 2011, Troy and Rhonda moved to Mesa, Arizona, where Troy served in upper management with the City of Mesa in the Emergency Management Department. In 2021, the couple returned back home to rural Castana, Iowa, where he worked remotely until his retirement.
In their free time, Troy and Rhonda enjoyed traveling and discovering unique destinations. They especially liked going on trail rides and spending time with friends. Troy had a way of brightening any room he entered. He loved sharing a good joke and took great joy in making others smile. He also enjoyed watching television and browsing TikTok. Troy had a deep love for God and was devoted to attending church. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife Rhonda Bumann of Castana, IA; children James (Jennifer Oberto) Haggerty, Jr. of York, NE, Tonya (Travis) Hart of Tilden, NE and Tasha (Shawn) Crain of Norfolk, NE; grandchildren Chandler, Barrett, Danya, Gavin, and Zander; mother LaDonna Bumann of Castana, IA; siblings Steven Bumann of Castana, IA, Brian (Donna) Bumann of Castana, IA and Annette (Scott) Hendon of Dallas, TX; nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Richard Bumann; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and in-laws Janet M. and Walter “Dean” Kallhoff.
