Obituary for Susan D. Larson
Susan Dianne (Lillie) Larson was born in Pensacola, FL, the daughter of Hollis and Dorothy (Richardson) Lillie, on September 9, 1948. The family moved to California where Susan attended school through the first part of her high school years. In 1965 she moved to the Oto area where she lived with her grandparents. She met her true love, Ronald Larson, and the two were wed on January 30, 1967. She graduated from Anthon-Oto High School that spring. Susan had a passion for helping others. This passion led her to Western Iowa Tech Community College where she studied nursing. In 1983 she attained that degree and became a Registered Nurse. She practiced her degree at Burgess Health Center in Onawa. At that same time, she joined Oto Ambulance Service. She used her 30 years of medical skills on countless patients, including victims from Flight 232's crash in Sioux City and the tornado at Little Sioux Boy Scout Camp in Blencoe. Susan was a dedicated member of the United Church of Christ in Oto, helping whenever possible. She loved to go bowling and to be with her grandkids. Her dog, Izzy Baby truly was her faithful companion. Suvivors left to cherish Susan's memory include her husband of 46 years, Ronald Larson; her daughter and her fiance, Amy Putzier and Jason Weber of Oto; her son's widow, Debbie Schultzen of Sioux City and Pat Schroeder of Moville; her father and his wife, Hollis and Jan Lillie of Anthon; her mother-in-law, Shirley Larson of Whiting; two brothers, Doug Girardin and Rob Girardin and his wife Kris all of Columbus, NE; her sister and her husband, Dawn and Chris Craig of Stratton, CO; seven grandchildren, Stephen James Todd Larson, Zachariah Todd Putzier, David Owen Putzier, Karilynn Schroeder, Cody Schroeder, Darrion Weber, and Eian Weber; Ronnie's two brothers and two sisters; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Izzy Baby. Susan was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Lillie; her son, Todd; her sister, Sandy; and her father-in-law, Albert Larson.
