Susan F. Stephenson, age 57, of Denison, IA passed away on April 18, 2017 at her residence of Denison, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Our Savior Lutheran Church of Denison, Iowa. Pastor David P. Loeschen and Deacon Jon Jacbsen will officiate. A visitation will be held from 5:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Our Savior Lutheran Church of Denison, Iowa. Susan Stephenson the daughter of Leonard and Iva (Fain) Stephenson was born on August 9, 1959, in St. Louis, Missouri. She grew up in Ferguson, Missouri and graduated from McCluer High School with the class of 1978. Susan went on to further her education at SE Missouri State University graduating with the class of 1982 with a BA in general studies.
Susan had a soft spot for children which lead her to a career in the child care system. She worked in child care up until her mid-forties when she retired due to a handicap. Susan has enjoyed life the last nine years with her Wesco family in Denison, Iowa. She liked reading People magazine, detective fiction novels and treasured spending time with family. A devoted Cardinal’s fan, Susan could tell you anything you wanted to know about the team and their stats. Her favorite hobby was shopping, whether it be stopping at a garage sale, flea market, or the mall, Susan could out shop them all. She will be fondly remembered as a loyal friend, a listening ear, and for her joyful laughter that could fill a room.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister Melinda (H. Dixon) Stephenson LeRosen of Gun Barrel City, TX; brothers David C. (Diana) Stephenson of Fritch, TX and Thomas A. Stephenson of Las Vegas, NV; brother-in-law Richard Huber of Moscow Mills, Missouri. Nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Brian McLean) Parker, Jessica Parker (Kathy Jensen), Feliz (Bill) Andrews, Sarah (Brett) Preston, Scott (Stephanie) Stephenson, Stephen LeRosen, Elizabeth LeRosen, Shelby Huber, Krystal Huber and Dylan Huber; best friend Jeanie Fink of Deloit, Iowa; extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Iva Stephenson; sisters Elizabeth Hollowood and Mary Alice Huber.
