Steven D. O’Connor, age 59, of Sioux City, IA, formerly of Mapleton, IA passed away at his residence of Sioux City, Iowa.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2017, at the Armstrong – Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa. Rev. Marcus Manley will officiate; with interment following in the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Mapleton, Iowa. The Armstrong - Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Steven D. O’Connor was born April 22, 1957 in Ida Grove, Iowa to Clarence and Geraldine (Armstrong) O’Connor. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith and graduated from Mapleton High School with the class of 1975. After graduation, he began working at IBP as a meat inspector in Dakota City, Nebraska. When his employment ended at IBP he decided to go to college at Western Iowa Tech and earned a degree to become a Legal Assistance. After college, he began working at Artisan Press Inc., located in Sioux City, Iowa.
Steven was very interested in politics and the weather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, visiting and calling them as often as he could. He liked watching all sports but was not in favor of Nebraska. Steven had a love for life and enjoyed every moment of it.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister Janice Burns of Cherokee, Iowa, sisters-in-law, Jenell O’Connor of Onawa, Iowa, and Carol O’Connor of Denison, Iowa; brother- in-law Mickey Williams of Peublo West Colorado; extended family and friends.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Geraldine O’Connor; two brothers Greg O’Connor and Tom O’Connor, sister Linda Williams, brother-in-law Robert Burns, and twin infant siblings.
