Steve B. Anderson, age 61, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at the Burgess Health Center of Onawa, Iowa.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at the St. John’s United Methodist Church of Mapleton, Iowa. Rev. Jena Manchester will officiate. Committal will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Mapleton, Iowa. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at the St. John’s United Methodist Church of Mapleton, Iowa. Steven B. “Steve” Anderson was born February 22, 1957, in Ida Grove, Iowa. The son of Dale and Alyce (Wright) Anderson and youngest sibling to sisters, Patricia, Candace and Pamela. Steve was an attendee of Eastwood Community Schools of Correctionville and Cushing, IA. He started working full time for his father’s excavating business Anderson Construction Co. Inc. in 1974.
Steve married his high school sweetheart, Cindee K. Fitch, on September 28, 1974, in Cushing, IA. To this union two children were born a daughter Holly and a son Kevin. Steve and Cindee began their life together in Cushing and later moved to Mapleton, IA in 1987. Steve was part owner of Anderson Construction with his father Dale and his uncles, Darlo and Delmer Anderson. He became the sole owner of Anderson Construction in 1992.
Steve continued to operate the construction business until the time of his death. He was known for taking immense pride in his work and crew. During his tenure as the owner of Anderson Construction, he completed several large scale grading projects in and around northwest Iowa. Over his lifetime Steve enjoyed many hobbies including boating, fishing, snowmobiling, riding motorcycles, running his muscle cars through the quarter mile and adoring his four granddaughters.
As a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Steve’s survivors include his wife Cindee Anderson of Mapleton, IA; daughter Holly (Ryan) Clark of Woodbine, IA; son Kevin (Lacey) Anderson of Altoona, IA; four granddaughters: Carlee Anderson, Ellison Clark, Clara Anderson and Isabelle Clark; three sisters Patricia (Arlyn) Stewart of Ida Grove, IA, Candace (Robert) Miller of Correctionville, IA, and Pamela (Dan) Kovarna of Mapleton, IA; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
