Obituary for Ronald L. "Ron" Rude
Mapleton, IA - Ronald Lee "Ron" Rude, 66, of Mapleton, Iowa died Thursday. May 15, 2014. Visitation will be Monday, May 19 after 4:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton. The family is receiving condolences on line at www.armstrongfuneral.com. Ron was born March 23, 1948, in rural Soldier, Iowa, the son of Wilbur Marion and Arlene (Jahn) Rude. He grew up in the area and graduated from Charter Oak-Ute High School with the class of 1966. On August 23, 1969, he married Cinda Hennings at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute. They first lived in the Ute area and moved to Mapleton in 1971. Ron and Cinda had two children. Ron's life's work was in farming. He enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren and introducing them to farming with the hope that one of them might farm as well. Survivors include his wife, Cinda of Ankeny, Iowa; a son and his wife, Scott and Alicia Rude and their children, Justus and Sylus of Ogden, Iowa; a daughter, and her husband, Kristi and Matt Christensen and their children, Hailee, Jerra, and Makayla also of Ankeny; one brother and his wife, Roger and Theresa Rude of Omaha, Nebraska; and two sisters, Rita Smook and her husband, Richard of Luverne, Minnesota and Rose Blankenship of Houston, Texas. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Russell Dean Rude; and an infant sister, Karen Arlene Rude.
