Ronald Charles Jensen was born March 14, 1933, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Charles and Nellie (Gray) Jensen. The family moved to their Danbury farm in 1941, land that Ron and Alice continued to respect and care for throughout their lives. Ron graduated from the Danbury Public School with the class of 1950. He served his country in the United States Army from February 25, 1953 until his honorable discharge February 8, 1955. Ron attended Morningside College while working full time at International Harvester and graduated with his degree in 1964 with a double major in math and science. During this time of his life, Ron met Alice Denker, a young school teacher in Danbury. They were married eight years later on July 28, 1963 at the Methodist Church in Denison, Iowa which led to the celebration of the couple's 50th wedding anniversary on July 28, 2013. When Ron began his career working for International Harvester in Sioux City, Iowa his skills as a mechanic excelled him to prosper with the company. He worked for International Harvester for a total of 46 years earning the title of Zone Service Manager. There really was no engine that Ron could not repair or rebuild. He loved restoring old tractors and airplanes and was proud to still own his collection. From 1995, until the present, Ron was working for Ray's Transfer in Council Bluffs, a job that brought him close friends. As a young man, Ron always dreamt of flying and fulfilled that dream in 1974 when he got his private pilot's license, a dream his wife, Alice fully supported. He bought his own Ercoupe, which he still had, and enjoyed flying with other pilots and friends in the Ercoupe Owners Association. He was also working on restoring a short wing Piper. Ron was a 39 year member of Hanscom Park United Methodist Church in Omaha. The family members left to embrace their loving memories of Ron, include Alice, his wife of 50 years; his daughter and her husband, Karla and Dan Hamlett, of Omaha; his two grandchildren, Garrett and Jillian Hamlett; and one brother-in-law, Bob Denker of Denison, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kimberly Jensen; a brother, Tom Jensen; a nephew and his wife and their son.
