Obituary for Ronald B. "Ron" Christiansen
Ronald B. Christiansen Castana, Iowa - Ronald B. "Ron" Christiansen, 71, of Papillion, Nebraska and formerly of Audubon and Castana, Iowa passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. The funeral service will be Thursday, January 8, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa. Pastor Harvey Hanson and Pastor Josh Beckner will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family is receiving condolences on line at www.armstrongfuneral.com. Ronald Bruce Christiansen was born February 20, 1943, at Castana, Iowa. He grew up in the area and attended Castana High School. In his youth, he worked for local farmers and developed his love of working on tractors. He later worked at Bickley Motors at Ida Grove, Iowa. In 1970, he started Christiansen Motors, Inc. in Audubon, Iowa, a Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, and Oldsmobile dealership. Ron married Connie McNutt August 18, 1984, at the German City Church. They moved to Castana just prior to Ron's retirement in 2002. They recently moved to Papillion, Nebraska. During his career in Audubon, Ron volunteered for various business and civic groups. He loved playing cards and piloting his own airplane. During retirement, he thoroughly enjoyed joining his friends in his tractor group and driving in many tractor rides. He was involved in one such ride at Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota. Survivors include his wife, Connie; one daughter, Ronda Arnold and her husband, Mike, of Paynesville, Minnesota and their children, Nathan, Heather, and Jake Arnold; three sons, Brian Christiansen and his wife, Jess, of Omaha, Nebraska and their children, Lexi, Maddy, Livy, Erin, and Chelsea Christiansen, Jeff Hasbrouck and his wife, Jo, of Audubon, Iowa and their son, Jake Christensen, and Jason Hasbrouck of Seattle, Washington; three sisters, Edna Jensen of Castana, Iowa, June Samuelson and her husband, "Sam" of Milan, Illinois, and Carmen Lamb and her husband, "Red" of Onawa, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; and friends everywhere. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Hank, Bob, and Charles in infancy; three sisters, Doris Berning, Marilyn Wallace, and Charlotte Kendall.
