Rolland Omer Bueoy was born a half mile north of the Catholic Church in Mapleton on September 7, 1917, the son of Omer and Dora (Ham) Bueoy. He grew up and was educated in the Mapleton area. He later settled in the Climbing Hill, Iowa area where he farmed until March 25, 2004. He then moved to Moville, Iowa and entered Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton in 2008.
Rolland served his country in the United States Army during World War ll. He married Edna Strackbein on April 4, 1948. She died in 1954. He married Edna Mitchell on June 15, 1966, at Sioux City, Iowa. She passed December 1, 1990.
Rolland was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton and a former member of the American Legion and the V.F.W., both of Oto, Iowa.
Family members surviving Rolland are a step son, LeRoy Heart and his wife, Cecelia of Madesto, California; two step grandchildren, Susan and Robert; four step great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Bumsted of Mapleton, Iowa and Evonne Farber of South Sioux City, Nebraska; and one brother, Robert Bueoy of Mapleton; along with other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Maureta Yockey, Genevieve Moore, Helen Bumsted, and Marjorie Farber; and one brother, Paul Bueoy, who died at 6 months of age.
