Roger Lee Sanford, the son of Leonard and Doris (Druivenga) Sanford, was born on November 29, 1963, in Mapleton, Iowa.

In his youth Roger was active in 4-H and looked forward to showing his horse Mack. He also enjoyed racing around on his dirt bike. Roger graduated from Maple Valley High School with the class of 1982.

After graduation, Roger worked for Transco Railway Service and later found his career as a plumber for Hopkins Contracting. In 1986 in Elk Point, South Dakota, Roger married his soulmate Amy Cain. Roger welcomed Amy’s son Travis to the union. The couple were later blessed with two more sons, Adam Lee and Andrew Paul. The couple later part ways but in true soulmate fashion were drawn back together in April of 2015.

Roger never knew a stranger and was soon a steadfast friend and he was treasured by all who knew him. Family was very important to Roger, and he always looked forward to spend time with them especially celebrating holidays and birthdays.
