Roger L. Ingram, age 89, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Monday, September 30, 2024, at the Burgess Health Center of Onawa, Iowa.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2024, at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Mapleton, Iowa. Rev. Nathan Peitsch will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Mapleton, Iowa. Military Rites will be conducted by the Loren Hollister Post No. 496 of the American Legion of Mapleton, Iowa.
A Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Mapleton, Iowa.

Roger Lewis Ingram, the son of Harold Jennings and Maude Eva (Harsh) Ingram, was born on June 12, 1935, in Monona County, near Rodney, Iowa. Roger grew up in Smithland, Iowa, where he attended Smithland High School graduating with the class of 1953.
On July 12, 1957, Roger was united into marriage to Kay Frances Rotnicke in the St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Mapleton, Iowa. In May of 1958, Roger was drafted into the United States Army. He left on a Grey Hound bus from Onawa, Iowa, to Fort Carson, Colorado. In October of 1958 Roger boarded a ship in California to serve overseas in South Korea where he was stationed for 13 months. Roger was baptized in his faith at the Rock of Ages Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on March 18, 1960 and later confirmed on March 27, 1960, by Rev. Daryl Schmidt. Roger was honorably discharged from the service on April 30, 1964.
Roger and Kay made their home in Mapleton where they raised their two sons, Daryl and Steve. They were longtime residents of Mapleton and they celebrated a wonderful life together for over 67 years. During his lifetime, Roger worked in construction, was a farmhand for the Brenner family, worked at both the Elmquist and Bruning Elevators, and later worked at the Mapleton Coop. where he was employed from 1986 until his retirement in 1997.
Roger treasured spending time with his family. He enjoyed attending baseball games, watching the Kansas City Chiefs, camping, and sitting outside visiting with his neighbors. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving wife Kay Ingram of Mapleton, IA; children Daryl Ingram (Joan Ford) of Mapleton, IA and Steve (Joanie) Ingram of New Hampton, NY; grandson Steven Ingram of New Hampton, NY; special family members Kyle Ford, Nikki Ford, Mia, Jaxson, Ford, and Delani Welte; sister-in-law Janice Ingram of Danbury, IA; extended family and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Maude Ingram; a daughter in infancy; grandson Gregory Paul; sisters Dorothy (Dale) Hanks, Margaret (Jim) Weidman, and Gertrude Ingram; brothers Paul Ingram and Newell Ingram.
