Obituary for Roger Dean Putzier
Roger Dean Putzier, age 76, of Battle Creek, Iowa, passed away, Saturday, November 11, 2017, at the Mercy Medical Center of Sioux City, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2017, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, of Battle Creek, Iowa. Rev. Randy D. Cormeny will officiate. Committal Service will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, with Military Rites conducted by the Maple Valley Post No. 364 of the American Legion both of Battle Creek, Iowa. A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 16, 2017, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, of Battle Creek, Iowa. Roger Dean Putzier, the son of Arthur and Edna (Lill) Putzier, was born on December 21, 1940, southeast of Battle Creek, Iowa. Roger attended Battle Creek Public School. He enlisted into the United States Air Force on July 25, 1961. Roger was stationed at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, serving for 4 years before being honorably discharged on July 24, 1967.
Roger was blessed with three children Kenneth, Tena and Keith. He resided in Cherokee and Quimby working for Wilson Foods for a total of 40 years and 6 months before retiring in 2006. Roger then relocated back to Battle Creek, Iowa, where he was living up to present.
Roger was a former 40 year member of the United Food and Commercial Workers # 179. He was a current member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Battle Creek, Iowa, and an active member of the Maple Valley Post No. 364 of the Battle Creek American Legion.
Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and treasured time spent with his family. He was a loving father and proud grandpa to Evita and Lynden.
Left to cherish his memory are his children son Keith Putzier of Omaha, NE and daughter Tena (Miguel) Cardozatobar of New Braunfels, TX; brother Kenneth Putzier of Storm Lake, IA; grandchildren Evita Cardozayputzier of Braunfels, TX and Lynden Cardozayputzier stationed at Ramstein Airbase, Germany; extended family and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Edna Putzier; son Kenneth Putzier; and sisters Norma Castor and LaDonna Ledden.
