Obituary for Rita A. Fitzpatrick
Rita A. Fitzpatrick Danbury, Iowa - Rita A Fitzpatrick, a lifelong resident of Danbury & Mapleton passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 22, 2014, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa. The Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury with Rev. Dan Greving officiating. Burial will be in the Danbury Catholic Cemetery at Danbury. Visitation will at the church Monday, December 29 after 4:30 p.m. with the Rosary led by St. Mary's Rosary Society at 5:00 p.m. and a Vigil Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until Mass time at the church. Armstrong funeral Home of Danbury and Mapleton is in charge of the arrangements. The family is receiving condolences on line at www.armstrongfuneral.com. Rita Ann Fitzpatrick was born to Pearl & Joe Uhl on January 7, 1925. She married Thomas Fitzpatrick Jr. on March 17, 1944. Rita was a member of Saint Mary's Parish in Danbury & the Rosary Society. For several years she provided meals and housekeeping for the priests of Saint Mary's Rectory. She was also responsible for the school lunches at the Danbury campus of Maple Valley School for many years. Rita enjoyed playing cards and especially enjoyed playing with her grandchildren. She was an avid golfer. Rita was a member of the Nuns on the Run and she valued greatly the friendship of her "sisters". She truly enjoyed coffee with the girls at the C store. She will be remembered for her trust in God, belief in the power of prayer and her incredible inner strength. We will remember & treasure the two crisp dollar bills for our birthday. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas Fitzpatrick Jr., numerous brothers & sisters. She is survived by her children Mike (Sharri) Fitzpatrick of Sioux City, Iowa Patsy (Lynn) Jeane of Wichita, Kansas, Jeff Fitzpatrick of Waterloo, Iowa, Les (Jennie) Fitzpatrick of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Gary (Jane) Fitzpatrick of Kansas City, Missouri, fifteen grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren, three brothers & two sisters. The family would like to thank her friends who provided support over the years as well as the staff of Maple Heights for the care provided this past year. You are all awesome. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Saint Mary's Parish, Danbury Iowa.
