Obituary for Rex Mohrhauser
Onawa, IA - Rex R. Mohrhauser, 59, of Onawa, Iowa passed Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Bright Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa. Services are Monday, April 29, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church, 722 15th Street, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor John Sears officiating. Burial will be in the Liston Township Cemetery at Danbury, Iowa at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday, April 28 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 210 South 5th Street in Mapleton, Iowa. On line condolences can be directed to the family at www.armstrongfuneral.com. Rex Roger Mohrhauser was born May 24, 1953, at Sioux City, Iowa the son of Barney and Ellie (Bell) Mohrhauser. He lived at home and various other places, the longest at Onawa, Iowa, while being served at Crossroads of Western Iowa. Most recently he resided at the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella, Iowa. Rex attended church at the First Christian Church in Onawa. Along with finding long-lasting friendships at Crossroads, Rex loved to dance, especially to the rock and roll music of the 70's. He also enjoyed rodeos, parades, and watching golf on TV. Desserts were his favorite and first part of the meal, the whipped cream disappearing the fastest. In 2012, Rex and his bowling team won a gold medal at the Special Olympics at Des Moines, Iowa. Rex's survivors include two sisters, Mary Mohrhauser of Waukee, Iowa and Bonnie Sohm of Lead, South Dakota; one brother and his wife, Mike and Carol Mohrhauser of Ida Grove, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Eldon (Pidge) Webb; one sister, Alberta (Bert) Leisinger; and a brother-in-law, Richard Sohm.
