He grew up in Danbury and attended Maple Valley School graduating with the class of 1974. After high school, Randy worked in the maintenance department at Morningside College in Sioux City and later for L & D Construction. After his parents retired from running Ed's Place in Danbury, Randy bought the business. He then ran it as Doc's Lounge until 1991. On June 15, 1991, Randy and Casey (Burke) Prell were married at their home by Pastor Walter Engstrom. That same year Randy began working for B and F Construction in Mapleton. He was also a past member of the Danbury Fire Department and the Danbury Community Club. He also served for a number of years on the Danbury City Council. Randy loved working in his shop at home where he created and brought to life any wood working project imaginable. He was especially proud of the pedestal tables and desks he made for his grandkids the past couple Christmas seasons. Randy and Casey were dedicated to their Friday night journeys to their camper in Okoboji every summer weekend the last 10 years. They were able to relax there and enjoy time with family and friends. He really loved the time spent with his three grandkids.
