Patton William Clubine was born July 18, 1953, in Mapleton, Iowa at the Dawson Maternity Home, the second of three sons born to William "Bill" and Lucy (Lane) Clubine. He grew up on the farm with his family and early on developed a love for farming at his father's side. Pat attended Maple Valley School where he was an excelerated student, who loved reading, graduating Cum Laude with the class of 1972. Pat proudly wore his decorated FFA blue jacket, with the attached emblems for service rewards. He also served as an officer on the State FFA Board. In his youth, Pat was also a member of the Saddle Club and was active in 4-H. After high school, he attended Iowa State University studying farm related courses. He decided the best farming education he could receive was at home beside his father and so he returned to the family farm. In all his years on the farm, Pat enjoyed getting out to visit family or have a good time, but he always made sure he was home in time to do chores. His father passed away June 28, 2000. As a tractor enthusiast, Pat found it rewarding to search out and buy tractors, have them restored and create his John Deere tractor collection. His favorite tractor, however, was the 1952 WD Allis-Chalmers that belongs to his family. He enjoyed driving it and others in local events and parades. He also planned and enjoyed going to annual events such as the Spencer Fair to look at all the farm equipment and maybe even pose for a picture by another favorite tractor. Pat was a member of the Mapleton Coop Board. In his spare time, Pat found that due to his stature and strength, he was a pretty good bowler and joined multiple leagues over the years. He was an easy going guy, who made friends easily with his gentle nature and big smile. He also was faithful in looking out for his mother. Simply put, he was a good man with a big heart. Those persons left to share their grief are his mother, Lucy Clubine of Mapleton; two brothers, Michael Clubine and his wife, Jennifer of Boone, Iowa and Clayton Clubine and his wife, Leisa of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; his special friend, Lana Timm of Mapleton; nieces and nephews and other extended family members. Along with his father, Bill Clubine, Pat was preceded in death by his grandparents.
