Myrna L. Longlee, age 68, of Soldier, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Maple Heights Nursing Home of Mapleton, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the Soldier Lutheran Church of Soldier, Iowa. The Vicar Shari Schwedhelm will officiate; with interment following in the Soldier Cemetery of Soldier, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Soldier Lutheran Church of Soldier, Iowa. Myrna was born on January 12, 1948, in Onawa, Iowa, to Milford & Marcella “Sally” (Gibbs) Nordaker. She grew up on the farm Northwest of Ute, Iowa. She attended school and graduated from Charter Oak High School with the class of 1966. After graduation, Myrna and a girlfriend went to work in Omaha at an insurance agency.
On September 9, 1967, Myrna was united into marriage to James W. Longlee in the rural Soldier Lutheran Church of Soldier, Iowa. The couple were blessed with two children Regina and Christopher.
Myrna raised her children and then started working in the grocery store and then for the Mapleton Vet Clinic for eleven years. Myrna operated Myrna’s Floral and Gift Shop in Solider, Iowa, until she retired in 2014.
Myrna enjoyed camping and boating on Blue Lake and the Missouri River, fishing Storm Lake for Catfish. She relished in her creativity crafting with any medium or material from making candles to woodworking, home décor crafts and sewing just to name a few. Myrna loved wintering at Dessert Shadows camp ground in Phoenix, Arizona for eight years where she did crafts and made many friends. Myrna was a lifelong member of the Solider Lutheran Church. She was active in the Soldier Ladies Legion Auxiliary.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 49 years, Jim Longlee of Soldier, Iowa; children, Regina “Gina” (Greg) Sisco of Ute, Iowa and Chris Longlee of Gretna, Nebraska; granddaughters, Carsyn and Carlee Sisco and grandsons, Jaxson and Tyson Longlee; brother, Lester Nordaker of Solider, Iowa; niece, Jonnie Nordaker and nephews, Jason Nordaker and James Nordaker; aunts, Audrey Androy and Norma Heistand; along with extended family and friends.
Myrna was preceded by her parents, nephew, Bruce Hebb; and special friends, Skip Holverson and Angie Gorham.
