Michael “Mike” R. Malone, age 69, of Ute, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at the Maple Heights Nursing Home of Mapleton, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 16, 2018 at the St. John’s United Methodist Church of Mapleton, Iowa. Rev. Jena Manchester will officiate; with Committal Services following in the St. Clair Township Cemetery of Ute, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the Armstrong-Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa. Michael “Mike” R. Malone, the son of Everett and Edna (Kroll) Malone, was born on February 2, 1949, in Sioux City, Iowa. Mike grew up in the town of Ute, Iowa, where he attended school at Charter Oak-Ute. He graduated from Denison High School with the class of 1969.
Mike worked various jobs throughout his life. He was a faithful member of St. John’s United Methodist Church of Mapleton, Iowa, where he was baptized in his faith and later confirmed on May 26, 1963. Mike served on the church board of trustees and enjoyed attending church when his health allowed.
Mike volunteered his time on the Ute Fire Department. He was a member of the Iowa Fireman’s Association and a MYF member. Mike enjoyed the outdoors, bird watching and treasured his time spent with family and friends.
Mike is survived by his brothers Larry of Des Moines, IA and Delbert of Mapleton, IA; sister Barb of Ute, IA; sister-in-law Darlene of Earlham, IA; brother-in-law Delbert of Mapleton, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Everett and Edna Malone; maternal and paternal grandparents; sisters Beatrice and Beverly; brothers Dorance, Oliver, and Delaine; sisters-in-law Ruth, Dorothy, and Myrna; and brother-in-law Buddy.
