
Michael E. "Mike" Coyne, age 80, of Marshalltown, Iowa (formerly of Waterloo and Anthon, Iowa), passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the Iowa Veterans Home of Marshalltown, Iowa.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Mt. St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery of Anthon, Iowa. Father Michael Erpelding will officiate.
A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Michael “Mike” Edmund Coyne was the 8th child born to Thomas “Tom” and Emma (Dixon) Coyne, on June 21, 1944, in Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up in the town of Anthon, Iowa, where he received his education and graduated from Anthon-Oto High School with the class of 1962.
Shortly after graduation, Mike enlisted into the United States Army and served his country stateside in the Dominican Republic during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged and returned home to Iowa.
In 1972, he took a civilian job with the United States Postal Service in Waterloo, Iowa, where he proudly worked until retirement.
In October of 1973 Mike married Carol Segebarth and to this union two children were born, Amy and Eric. The couple would later part ways on good terms.
Mike spent his final years at the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown. A true conversationalist, Mike loved visiting, spending time, and catching up with his family, friends, and fellow residents. He was beloved by the staff, always the first person up and ready for the day. Mike also enjoyed trips to the casino and watching on his favorite sports teams on TV. He was free with his affection, always saying ‘I love you’, before ending a phone conversation.
Survivors include his children, daughter Amy Coyne and son Eric Coyne both of Waterloo, IA; grandchildren Ryan and Mia; siblings Thomas “Jay” (Jeanette) Coyne, Jean Naughton, Nancy Brown, Sheila Bradley, and Colleen (Terry) Wright; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Emma Coyne; siblings Mary (Joseph) Casillas, Sister Julie Coyne, and Kathy Deischel; brothers-in-law Gerald Naughton, Hank Brown, and Clarence “Brad” Bradley.
