Marvin (Mike) Kluver Mapleton, IA - Marvin (Mike) Kluver, 94, of Mapleton, Iowa passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa. Services will be Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Mapleton with Pastor Don Studley, officiating. Following the funeral luncheon, burial will be in Morgan Township Cemetery at Schleswig, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday, February 1 after 4:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa. Visitation will resume Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service time at the church. Condolences may be directed to the family online and the full obituary found at www.armstrongfuneral.com. Marvin (Mike) Kluver was born March 7, 1918, on a farm near Denison, Iowa, the son of Henry Kluver, Sr. and Augusta (Schlie) Kluver. He grew up and attended country school. On January 10, 1942, he married LaVonne Ewoldt. She passed away in 1987. Mike farmed for six years near Mapleton. He owned and operated Marvin (Mike) Kluver General Trucking, local and long distance trucking, from 1951 to 1981, when he retired. He liked to play mouser with the grandkids, great grandkids, and others. Survivors include his son and his wife, Larry and Alice Kluver of Mapleton, Iowa; five grandchildren, Cathy (Eric) Diedrich of Radcliffe, Iowa, Carol (Len) Barker of Sioux City, Iowa, Cheryl Bainbridge of Corpus Christi, Texas, Carla Kieler of McCook, Lake, South Dakota, and Michael Kluver of Mapleton, Iowa; 10 great grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda, Melinda, Brittany, Andrew, Gunner, Alyssa, Kelsey, Kayla, and Brayton; two great great grandsons, David and Benjamin; and a sister-in-law, Lourraine Kluver of Mapleton, Iowa; along with many nieces and nephews. Along with his wife, Mike was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ben, Henry, Jr., and Roy; one sister, Lillian; and two special friends, Ethel Jessen and Ruth Lynn.
