Marlene A. (Osipowicz) Eickholt was born in Correctionville, Iowa, to Edward and Mary Osipowicz (Macur) on October 12, 1939. Marlene was a vibrant little girl and as she grew, she had a very active social life. In her teenage years Marlene enjoyed working at her father’s single screen movie theater, the Ritz Theater, in Correctionville. She graduated from Correctionville High School in May 1957. Marlene always loved young children and she had plans to become a preschool teacher after high school, but she met and married Frank Eickholt (from Anthon, Iowa) instead. They married on February 15, 1958, at the St. Joseph’s Church in Anthon. Marlene and Frank had five children and lived across several states including Virginia, Ohio, Iowa, Florida, and Colorado. They were married for 51 years before Frank passed.

In the early 70’s Frank and Marlene, along with partners, bought Acme Typewriter Company. They eventually became the sole owners of the company until they sold the business in the early 90’s. After her children were grown, she spent many years working as a bank teller at both Sunwest Bank in Florida and Wells Fargo Bank in Colorado. Bank patrons loved seeing her warm, smiling face and sharing in conversations with her about their families.

In 2003 Marlene and her husband Frank retired and moved to Cherokee, Iowa. After Frank passed in 2010 Marlene moved to be near her youngest daughter Barb and lived out many happy years with Barb’s close companionship. Throughout her life Marlene was a devoted member of the Catholic Church. She loved to spend any time she could with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marlene also loved to quilt, sew, and craft and she made many beautiful creations. She enjoyed road trips, camping, gardening, and playing cards with family and friends. Marlene was a faithful Denver Broncos and Josh Groban fan, she had a knack for crossword puzzles, and even in her later years she could still handily beat her teenage great grandsons in a round of cards.

She enjoyed a close relationship with the caregivers at Grace Pointe where she resided. They loved her like family and often spent time with her watching a Broncos or Rockies game. In recent years Marlene loved reconnecting with her cousin Gerri Monckton of Stockton, California; Marlene and Gerri would spend hours on the phone together every week.

Marlene was preceded in death by her son, Edward William; her husband of 51 years Frank; parents Edward and Mary; father and mother-in-law William and Virgie; and grandson Ryan Weatherill.

Marlene is survived by her three daughters, Rebecca (LaVerne) Tradel of Traer, IA, Beth Eickholt of Tampa, FL and Barbara (Matthew) Gill of Windsor, CO; one son, Brent Eickholt of Bellevue, NE; seven grandchildren: Angela Gramlich (John Stokes), Tasha (Tom) Thayer, Steven (Allison) Eickholt, Tyler (Camry) Gill, Brittany (Brandon) Green, Megan (JT) Watters, and Seth Tradel; four great-grandchildren: Courtney Nelson (Lucas Wylie), Nick Thayer, Luke Thayer and AJ Green; one great-great grandchild Liam Wylie; brother Denny (Kathy) Osipowicz; many cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.
