Marjorie Phyllis Nelson, the daughter of Chris Oliver Nelson and Ruby Ann (Ross) Nelson was born July 8, 1930, in Ute, IA. She was raised in Mapleton, Iowa, and received her education in the Maple Valley School District.

On July 7, 1956, Marjorie was united in marriage to William A. Uhl in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of0 Mapleton. The couple farmed near Mapleton until 1957 when they relocated to Sioux City, Iowa. Marjorie worked at several nursing homes as a Cleaning Supervisor over the years. Upon their retirement the couple returned to their roots in Mapleton. She was confirmed in her Catholic faith on April 8, 1958 and was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Mapleton.

Marjorie enjoyed gardening. She loved peonies, Irises and bleeding hearts. The couple enjoyed Sunday drives to nowhere particular and trips to the casino, where she always came home a winner. Marjorie never missed Wheel of Fortune and got quite a kick out of WWF Wrestling. She insisted that callers didn’t interrupt her wrestling show. Marjorie was known for her spunky attitude and knew everyone by their name at the care home.

Those survivor’s left to cherish Margie’s memory are her son, James (Jim) Uhl and his wife Christine Uhl of Elgin, Nebraska; two granddaughters Alexa (Damon) Tillis of Kaiserslautern, Germay and Abbey Uhl and fiancé Ethan Grace; two great grandchildren Sayler Tillis of Kaiserslautern, Germany and Owen Grace of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and one brother James (Lita) Nelson of Edmonds, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her husband William A. Uhl; parents Chris and Ruby Nelson; and her in-laws.
