Obituary for Margaret Morones
Margaret Morones, 60, of Anthon, Iowa entered rest Sunday, November 8, 2015, at UnityPoint St. Lukes in Sioux City, Iowa. The funeral service will be Thursday, November 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the Smithland United Methodist Church in Smithland, Iowa with Pastor Karen Handke officiating. Burial will be in the Little Sioux Township Cemetery at Smithland, Iowa with military graveside honors provided by the American Legion McNiff Post #389 of Anthon, Iowa. Visitation will be at the church Wednesday, November 11 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Armstrong Funeral Home of Anthon has been entrusted with the arrangements and the family is receiving condolences on line at www.armstrongfuneral.com.
On May 12, 1955 Laurence and Edith (Daniels) Mead welcomed their daughter Margaret (Mead) Morones into the world. Margaret was born in Iowa City IA. Later her familys home was located in Smithland, Iowa where she attended school. Margaret later joined the Army. While enlisted in the Army she was stationed in Germany for some time. She was honorably discharged from the army February 6, 1979.
In 1982, a few years after being discharged from the Army, Margaret moved to Anthon IA from Smithland IA. For a short time Margaret worked as a dishwasher at the Fireside Steakhouse in Anthon. After working at the Fireside she became a stay at home mother to her two children, Michael Mead and Jennifer Morones.
In 1992 she met her spouse of the past 23 years, Clifford Stegeman.
Margaret has a beautiful family, her son Michael C Mead (37 years), her daughter Jennifer Morones (36 years), and Jennifer's children Mason Morones (15 years), Dain Morones (12 years), and Ella Morones (6 years). Margaret loved being a grandma and going fishing where ever the fish were biting. She also enjoyed planting and tending to her flower garden.
Margaret is survived by her spouse, Clifford Stegeman; children Michael Mead and Jennifer Morones; grandchildren Mason, Dain, and Ella; her siblings, Larry (Dorothy) Mead, Earl Mead, Mabel Mead, Steven (Chris) Mead, Wayne (Luci) Mead, Ellen Mead, Bill (Debbie) Mead, Eric Mead; her sister-in-law, Nancy Mead; and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Laurence and Edith (Daniels) Mead; brother Rex Mead; sister Esther Mead; brother Dennis Mead; and many aunts and uncles.
