Marcella M. Glau, age 97, of Mapleton, IA passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at her residence of Mapleton, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2017, at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Mapleton, IA. Rev. Chris LaBoube will officiate; with interment following in the Ida Grove Cemetery of Ida Grove, IA. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., on Friday, March 10, 2017, at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Mapleton, Iowa. Marcella Mae Glau, the daughter of Fred and Louise (Hottendorf) Preul was born on June 3, 1919 in Crawford Co. near Ute, Iowa. She attended grade school in Crawford and Ida Counties.
On December 14, 1938, Marcella married Edwin J. Glau. The couple farmed around Ida Grove and Schleswig, IA, before relocating to Mapleton, IA in 1979. Marcella and Edwin were blessed with two children Barbara and Roger.
Marcella liked to read and do “Find-a-Word” puzzles. For many years she wrote the “I See” column for the Mapleton Press and was a faithful member of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Mapleton, Iowa.
Survivors include: children, Barbara Lyon of Mapleton, IA; Roger of Spencer, IA; four grandchildren Becky Lyon of Sioux Falls, SD; Patty and her husband Mark Barnard of Hugo, MN; Cody Glau of Marshall, MN and Kirstin and her husband Rodney Woods of Fallon, NV; two great grandchildren, Damion Scobie of Madison, WI and Kynja Woods of Fallon, NV; sister-in-law, Joanne Preul of Moville, IA; nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Glau in 1990; parents Fred and Louise Preul, sister Bernadine Dausel and brother Wayne Preul, infant brother, Delmar in 1931 and brother, Roger, age 6.
