Obituary for Lowell D. Wagoner
Lowell Dean Wagoner was born to Elmer and Allene (Blume) Wagoner on October 3, 1941, in Clarinda. He grew up in Clarinda, graduating with the class of 1960. He and Shirley Rector were united in marriage on August 28, 1961, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Clarinda. The couple first made their home in Clarinda, and, due to his job with UBC, moved to Audubon, Oakland, Tipton, and Mapleton where he was the manager at UBC. He became employed at BF Jacobson Lumber when UBC closed. He then worked as manager at Soldier Lumber and later worked at Menards in Sioux City before retiring. Lowell was active in the Mapleton community. He was a member of the fire department, the Rotary, the Jaycees, and became an EMT and ran on the ambulance. He was a councilman on the Mapleton City Council. He was also a member at St. Matthew Lutheran Church where he served as an usher. Lowell loved supporting his children and grandchildren and attending their many sporting events. He and Shirley bowled in various leagues for years. She passed away on September 28, 2009. Lowell frequented Beef N Brew and spent numerous hours at the barbershop. Loving survivors left to cherish their memories of Lowell include a son, Cary Wagoner and his wife, Judy of Holstein, IA, and their family, Kayla Wingert and her husband, Todd and their children, Vienna and Jet, Allie, Brandi, and Harlee Wagoner; a daughter, Stacey Brandt and her husband, Jeff of Sumner, IA, and their family, Mackynzi and Quyntin "Q" Brandt; and a daughter, Kelly Freed and her husband, Dan of Dakota Dunes, SD, and their family, Adam, Nathan, and Britni. Survivors also include his mother-in-law, Beatrice Rector of Clarinda and three brothers and their wives, Roger and Lois of Clarinda, Dennis and Janese of Clarinda, and Jan and Linda of Elk Grove, CA; along with numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and good friends. Lowell was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents; his father-in-law, Kenneth Rector; a baby brother, Laverne, and an infant great grandchild.
