Leona L. Goslar, age 93, of Ute, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the Maple Heights Nursing Home of Mapleton, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Ute, Iowa. Rev. Chris LaBoube will officiate; with Committal Services following in the St. Clair Township Cemetery of Ute, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the Armstrong-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ute, Iowa. Leona Lucille Goslar, the daughter of Henry and Marie (Seils) Klaus, was born on the family farm on October 1, 1924, in Willow Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith on October 26, 1924, and confirmed on April 3, 1938, in the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ute, Iowa. Leona grew up on the family farm and graduated from Ute High School with the class of 1942.
On July 14, 1946, Leona married Phillip Goslar in the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Charter Oak, Iowa. Leona and Phillip were blessed with three children Gary, Connie and Mark.
Leona was a devoted Christian, homemaker, farm wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed gardening (especially her flowers), canning, and spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Gary (Sally) Goslar of Ute, Iowa, Connie Keating of Charter Oak, Iowa, and Mark Goslar of Ute, Iowa; six grandchildren: Tina (Clint) Sachau, Shawn (Julie) Goslar, Mindy (Duane) Boyle, Missy (Keith) Crawford, Cole Goslar, and Morgan Goslar; eight great-grandchildren: Micah, Skylar, Carter, Madison, Mya, Lincoln, Bryli, Brenna and one on the way; sisters Agnes Goodner of Harlan, Iowa, Delores Stephenson of Denison, Iowa, and Lucille Kruse of Denison, Iowa; special caregiver and friend Missy Malone; extended family and friends.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Marie Klaus; husband Phillip Goslar (11-9-2009) brother Ervin Klaus; sisters Esther (Charles) Behrendson, Helen (Raymond) Boettger; brothers-in-law Keith Goodner, Wayne Stephenson, and Ralph Kruse.
