Leo E. Shook, age 71, of Castana, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at his daughters residence in Onawa, Iowa.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life that will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the Castana Hall of Castana, Iowa. The Armstrong - Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Condolences may be sent online www.armstrongfuneral.com.
Leo E. Shook, the son of Herbert “Herb” and Freda (Mathys) Shook, was born on August 22, 1947, in Onawa, Iowa. At the age of 18 in 1965, Leo enlisted into the United States Navy. He served his country overseas during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in November of 1969.
Leo was blessed with two children a son Luke and daughter Miranda. He enjoyed his work in concrete and construction. He also loved listening to Techno and Rock-N-Roll music; going to the races with friends, and spending time with his grandchildren when he could.
Leo is survived by his children Luke (Marcie) Shook of Gretna, NE and Miranda (Evan Shuck) Dawdy of Onawa, IA; grandchildren Aiden Dawdy, Jordyn Dawdy, and Braxton Shook; sisters Rita Harris, Patty Huff, and Helen Peterson; brother Fred Shook; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jim and Harold Shook; nephew Robbie Harris; and brothers-in-law Charles Peterson and Norman Huff.
