Obituary for Laura Elizabeth "Pete" (Kennaley) Jones
Laura Elizabeth "Pete" (Kennaley) Jones, 91, of the Kansas City Northland, passed away August 6, 2020 at Northland Rehab and Health Care Center in Kansas City, MO.
Laura was born January 31, 1929, in Danbury, Iowa, the fourth of five children of Thomas Edward and Anne Lena (Schimmer) Kennaley. She was united in marriage to Ronald Allison Jones on August 1, 1949, at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha, NE. They lived in Omaha until moving to the Kansas City area in the early 70's.
Laura worked many years doing clerical work for insurance companies. She also was a talented seamstress. Laura was a lifelong Catholic, and a member of St. Gabriel parish in Kansas City.
Along with her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ronald; brothers, Bob and Pat Kennaley; and sister, Shirley Wright.
Survivors include her children, Michael Jones (Rhonda) of Omaha, NE, Jay T. Jones (Karen) of Platte City, MO, and Lauri Jones of Kansas City, MO; six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; her sister, Evonne Grell of Danbury, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, August 13, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury, IA. Burial will follow at Danbury Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury.
